Iredell School District Administrator Accepts Position In Durham

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — An Iredell-Statesville Schools administrator will soon begin a new post with Durham Public Schools, ISS announced Tuesday.

Dr. Alvera Lesane, who has served as the school district's Associate Superintendent of Human Resource Services for the past decade, will begin work as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Durham in January 2021.

Lesane's career with ISS spans 20 years and she has served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal in the school district.

"Dr. Lesane has served our community for many years," ISS Superintendent Jeff James said in a statement. "Her commitment to Iredell County and the students in I-SS is evident. We appreciate her service and wish her well as she moves to Durham, NC."

Durham Public Schools is one of the 10 largest school districts in the state and has approximately 32,000 students, ISS said.
