Iredell Schools Launch New Bus Route Tracking App
A new app that sends alerts when their school bus is close to their stop will soon be available for Iredell-Statesville School students.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — As chilly morning temperatures settle in, catching the school bus for many Iredell County students is about to get a lot easier. Iredell-Statesville Schools is soon rolling out a real-time bus tracking app that used GPS data to locate buses along their routes to predict their arrival at bus stops.
"After Thanksgiving this year, thousands of families across Iredell County will send their children
back to school with access to a powerful mobile app that makes catching the school bus a snap," ISS said in a statement.
In addition to offering real-time school bus tracking, the app will also send email and push notification alerts when the school bus approaches a student’s home or bus stop. The "Here Comes The Bus" app is free to download and can be access via smartphone, computer or tablet.

The school district is currently piloting use of the app with a few schools across the district, and says that all students will receive information about the app and how to link student information to it before the Thanksgiving holiday.
“The school day begins for thousands of Iredell County students when they step on the school bus. We are happy to implement the Here Comes the Bus app, which will make the trip to school as seamless and safe as possible,” Superintendent Jeff James said in a statement. “It is important for us to link parents, educators, and drivers. This technology will ease the anxiety of the bus stop for many parents by providing visibility of the bus route, and accurate arrival time.”
