- If you love butterflies or are just a fan of beautiful, natural things, you'll be happy to know that the 'Butterfly Room' at the North Carolina Museum of Natural History is set to reopen at the end of the month. According to WRAL News, "The Living Conservatory is modeled after a Central American forest and is filled with live animals including a two-toed sloth, a tropical milk snake, five ornate wood turtles and a Brazilian black tarantula. The space, as its unofficial name implies, is also home to as many as 200 live butterflies." Can't wait to take a peek! (WRAL News)
- A section of Wade Avenue is scheduled to close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. overnight on Friday, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Resurfacing work will be going on. Crews plan to close all lanes of the road between Capital Boulevard and St. Marys Street. There is a possibility that the area will be closed again Sunday night if needed. Drivers be aware and take the necessary precautions. (CBS17.com)
- Earlier this week a man who was walking on the train tracks was hit and killed by an Amtrak train. The incident happened at Blue Ridge Road and Beryl Road between Cary and Raleigh. According to WRAL News, "Amtrak said in a statement that Amtrak train 78 was traveling from Charlotte to Raleigh at approximately 11:40 p.m. when a man was hit by the train. Amtrak said there were 24 passengers and crew members onboard, but no one else was injured. Amtrak is working with the Raleigh Police Department to investigate the incident." (WRAL News)
