- Are you looking for a new job? In an effort to help keep children safe when crossing the streets, the city of Raleigh is raising the pay for school crossing guards. According to WRAL News, "As of Thursday, the city’s part-time crossing guards’ starting pay is just $11 per hour. The city’s new budget will raise that figure to $15.66 per hour." (WRAL News)
- Raleigh couple Thomas Clayton Johnson and Emmalei Grace Trevathan were both charged with murder, murder of an unborn child, and concealment of a body. Both were found guilty on each count, following a recent jury trial. They were both sentenced to life in prison for killing 28-year-old Brittany Samone when she was about six months pregnant and hiding her body in a suitcase. (CBS17.com)
- Thursday afternoon a 2-alarm fire at Spring Arbor of Raleigh on New Hope Road forced out 50 people at the assisted living facility. Reportedly the fire impacted roughly half of the building. No injuries have been reported and the fire is currently under investigation. (WRAL News)
