RALEIGH, NC — A man has been charged with a felony stemming from a hit-and-run crash in Northeast Raleigh that left a motorcyclist dead. Police said Jamar Rashaun Beach of Raleigh was riding a Suzuki motorcycle early Saturday when he went through the intersection of New Hope Church Road and Bonneville Court. A Honda vehicle failed to yield the right of way and made a left turn, according to a crash report.

The vehicles collided and Beach died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Honda fled the scene, police said. The car was later found parked — and empty — several blocks away on the 3800 block of Bonneville Court.

On Sunday morning, police announced Neri Damian Cruz-Carmona, 26, was charged with felony hit and run causing serious injury or death in the crash. He was taken to the Wake County Detention Center.
