Obituary: Theodora Couture, 80, Of Knightdale

Teddy was a beautician and had a successful career as a hairdresser for most of her life.

Theodora (Teddy) Couture (Dunn) born to Andrew and Lucille (Krasinski) Dunn on January 26, 1944 in the Bronx, New York City passed away on February 20, 2024 surrounded by her loving family in Knightdale NC.

Born in the Bronx, New York City, her family moved to Enfield, CT when she was the age of 10, and this was where she spent the majority of her life. She graduated from A.I. Prince Technical High School, in Hartford CT, as a beautician and had a successful career as a hairdresser in Enfield, CT for most of her life. She was cherished and loved by all of her customers.

Teddy was a wife, a mother, a sister and most importantly a Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Her passion and greatest love was her family. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a 1st District President (1990’s), and a unit President for Tanguay Magill Unit #80 for many years. During that time her greatest passion was the junior girls and teaching them about our veterans. She also was active with Girls State and loved teaching young women about local and state politics and how the government was run (1998-2018).

Her most cherished moments were when she was with her family. She had 4 children: Sharon (Ouimet) Smith of Knightdale, NC., Arthur E. Ouimet IV and wife Jenitza of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, Francis Ouimet and wife Tanya of Ludlow, MA , and A. Joseph Couture Jr and his wife Kathy of Ashby MA. Whether it was camping in Stafford Springs, CT or going to a school function for her grandchildren and Great nieces, family holidays, or life events these were her most joyous moments in her life.

Teddy leaves behind a legacy of 10 grandchildren: Christina, Joshua, Dalton, Jordan, Logan, Micaiah, Arthur V, Lyle Jr, Brandon and Michael, along with 3 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her brother Andrew Dunn of South Carolina and wife Gina, her sister Lucille Brown and husband Bruce of Greenfield, Ma., and a sister/cousin Stephanie Shooner and husband Russell of Springfield, MA along with 4 nieces and a Nephew, and 3 great nieces and a great nephew. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 29 years Albert J Couture in 2019, her sisters Patricia (Dunn) Lawler, and Andrea (Dunn) St. John and a brother Timothy Dunn.

A celebration of life for Teddy will be held March 22, 2024 at the Tanguay Magill Post #80 at
560 Enfield St,. Enfield CT at 3 pm. All are welcome to attend and share your fond memories
of Teddy with her family and celebrate her beautiful life!
