Raleigh LGBT center opens in downtown (cbs17.com) — A new LGBT Center has opened in downtown Raleigh, giving LGBTQ+ residents and allies a central, accessible place to gather, learn, and find resources. Located at South Blount and Cabarrus streets, the center offers books, clothing, computers, and programs for families, youth, adults, and trans and gender-expansive people, backed by major local philanthropic support.
   

2. Man charged with assaulting, impeding ICE officers in Morrisville not intended target, documents say (abc11.com) — From a Raleigh-based I-Team investigation, new video sheds light on a tense ICE arrest at a Morrisville shopping plaza where agents say a driver tried to ram their vehicle. Court documents now reveal the man charged wasn’t the intended target, raising fresh questions about how the operation unfolded and who agents were actually seeking.

AARP North Carolina recognizes Mary Bethel with its most prestigious volunteer award (aarp.org) — A longtime advocate for older adults was just honored in Raleigh with AARP North Carolina’s top volunteer award. Fuquay-Varina resident Mary Bethel received the 2025 Andrus Award at a ceremony in the city, recognizing her decades of statewide work advancing aging policy, services, and advocacy that benefit seniors and their families across North Carolina.
   

4. Sen. Phil Berger gets Trump endorsement in GOP primary race for NC senate (cbs17.com) — Raleigh readers are watching a high-profile Republican primary tighten as former President Donald Trump endorses state Senate leader Phil Berger in his reelection bid. Berger, who represents District 26, faces sharp criticism from challenger and Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page, even as Trump praises both men and hints he’d rather see Page working in Washington, D.C.
   

5. Photos: KU holds traditional holiday shopping excursion (ljworld.com) — Raleigh will host the Kansas Jayhawks this Saturday when they face N.C. State, bringing a marquee men’s basketball matchup to local fans.
