- A fire broke out at Pines of Ashton Apartments on Sunday afternoon on the top floor of the building. At press time, officials had not released any information on how the fire started or the cause. According to WTVD-TV, "The Red Cross is working with the residents that were displaced. No injuries were reported." (WTVD-TV)
- A small plane crashed near Raleigh on Sunday afternoon. Reportedly, when the police arrived on the scene one operator was found outside of the aircraft uninjured. According to WXII12 Winston-Salem, "The investigation [of the crash] is ongoing. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
- Making their home above the WRAL Azalea garden a pair of red-tailed hawks are getting a lot of attention. The gardens are blooming, and the hawks have been soaring around looking for their next meal. You can catch a glimpse of these magnificent birds yourself when you visit Azalea Garden. (WRAL News)
