Long Island, NY — Terri “Dancing Star” Levi, an accomplished Shinnecock/Montaukett Native American artist from Long Island, continues to preserve and share her rich cultural heritage through Woodland Spirit Designs, her acclaimed collection of traditional and contemporary Indigenous artwork. Based near the Shinnecock Reservation in Southampton, Levi’s work reflects generations of knowledge passed down through her family and community.
Levi creates an array of traditional crafts, including Native American dolls, dream catchers, wampum jewelry, beadwork, quillwork, leatherwork, and full traditional regalia. Each piece is handcrafted with intention and cultural respect, honoring the teachings she received throughout her life.
“My designs are the result of years of learning from my mother, who created beadwork and dolls, and my father, who was an artist and painter,” Levi explains. “I was raised in my culture, guided by my elders, and everything I make is rooted in those teachings.”
