• Report: Reduce crime with more cops on the streets (carolinajournal.com) — Winston-Salem is singled out among the top U.S. cities for crime in a new John Locke Foundation report urging North Carolina to fund more intensive community policing. The study argues that hiring more officers, raising pay, and improving training could especially help high-crime, low-income neighborhoods. It also suggests using online sports betting tax revenue to support local departments that can’t afford expanded staffing.
