Amphitheater in downtown Winston-Salem pushed to 2027 (myfox8.com) — A major new amphitheater planned for downtown Winston-Salem is being expanded and will now open in spring 2027 instead of 2026, with capacity topping 5,000 seats and costs rising to $25 million. Project leaders say the larger, redesigned venue should be a powerful economic driver for downtown, and they’re also waiting on a revised city noise ordinance expected to be considered next year. 
2. 1 suspect shot by employee after attempting to rob Cooper Lake Cannabis, Winston-Salem police say (wxii12.com) — Winston-Salem police say an employee at Cooper Lake Cannabis on West Clemmonsville Road shot one of two armed, masked suspects during an attempted robbery late Saturday night. The wounded suspect is in stable condition, the second fled, and investigators are asking anyone with information to call the department’s non-emergency line.
3. Jimmy Hart Reunited With Iconic Megaphone After WrestleCade Theft (wrestlingnewssource.com) — Jimmy Hart’s famous megaphone, stolen during last month’s WrestleCade at Winston-Salem’s Benton Convention Center, has been safely returned after organizers warned security footage would be reviewed. Hart thanked WrestleCade staff and fans, calling the recovery a perfect Christmas present and reassuring local wrestling fans that the convention’s high-profile theft mystery is now resolved.

Tyler Nickel hits 8 3-pointers, leads unbeaten No. 13 Vanderbilt to blowout of Wake Forest 98-67 (nbcsports.com) — A packed crowd in Winston-Salem saw Wake Forest fall 98-67 to undefeated No. 13 Vanderbilt, which caught fire from three-point range on Sunday.
