Detroit Lakes Sons of Norway Vikingland Lodge 1-495 celebrated its 56th year
The Detroit Lakes lodge is known across the Nation and all the way to Norway and throughout Scandinavia.

Local Detroit Lakes Sons of Norway Vikingland Lodge 1-495 celebrated it’s 56th year on October 14th with an annual dinner celebration at First Lutheran Church. The dinner was catered by Linda Pihlaya.
The Detroit Lakes "Sons of Norway Viking lodge" is a local chapter of the Sons of Norway organization, which is the largest Norwegian organization outside of Norway.
The Detroit Lakes lodge has incorporated "Viking" in their name, as they preserve and promote Norwegian heritage and culture through cultural programs, social events, and community service.
The name reflects the historical Viking Age, a period of Norse expansion.

Fosters community: Organizes family-friendly gatherings, volunteer work, and scholarships. Supports other local non-profit efforts with financial and volunteer support.
Membership is open to all: Despite the name, the “Sons of Norway” is gender-inclusive and welcomes people of any ethnicity who have an interest in Nordic heritage and culture.
