The Doctor Is In - 13th Polar Plunge by Tom Mortenson

Once upon a time the Vikings came to America and settled throughout the land. Some came to Minnesota to play football.

In the land where Kringle is made (Racine, Wisconsin) another Viking was born and eventually came to Detroit Lakes, where returns each year to take a polar plunge.

This year Dr. Tom will be transformed into a Troll. Yes, one of those strange and mysterious creatures of Scandinavia. But while most trolls only went out at night, in the dark Dr. Tom is coming out in the sunlight. We know there is only one thing that could scare a real troll: a polar plunge. But this Viking is willing to risk being turned into stone.

This will be the Colonel's 13th plunge for the kids. Flying in from Florida, "the Colonel" will once again challenge the frigid waters to show that at any age each of us can help the youth of our community.
