1. This is a great opportunity to get some holiday shopping done and support local vendors and students all at the same time. On December 3rd, at Avon Lake High School, the Christmas By the Lake Craft Show will be held in the auxiliary gym from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3, kids under 10 are free. 2. Do you want to add a furry friend to your family and give back to the Avon-Avon Lake community at the same time? Perhaps it's finally time to adopt a pet! Many shelters in Avon-Avon Lake and environs are still working to fulfill adoptions. Over 6 million pets and other companion animals are given to adoption facilities each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Shelters often look after other animals in search of a permanent home as well, including pigs, birds and even horses.(Patch)
3. Looking for something fun to do? Why not warm up inside and enjoy a tropical holiday display through the end of December at the Miller Nature Preserve, 2739 Center Road? According to cleveland.com, "The Conservatory hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $2. Miller Nature Preserve is also hosting a St. Nick Light Walk from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on December 6th. Drop in for family holiday fun, including a photo opportunity with St. Nick. Walk among the lighted displays of the outdoor gardens, then warm up indoors with games and activities, holiday movie shorts and light refreshments in the Orchid Room.
