  3. The power of positivity helped to save the life of a pregnant Avon Lake woman's life and the life of her unborn child. Thanks to an incredible staff at Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. After identifying that Mallory Wehage, who was 22 weeks pregnant with her third child, had a "giant brain aneurysm," neurosurgeon Dr. Peter Rasmussen explained the situation. Wehage said she had to stay positive. According to WKYC.com, '"The priority was me, which, as a mom, it's hard," Wehage said. "[I] was the mom to the unborn child, but I had my Emmett and Mattie at home, so they still needed their mom." Never letting the statics or the fear of the situation get her down, Wehage made it through the necessary brain surgery, and so did her unborn child. As a thank you to the surgeon who saved their lives, Wehage and her baby made a visit to Dr. Rasmussen recently, calling it a "full circle moment." (WKYC.com)

From my notebook:

  • Cleveland Browns: "Donovan had a nice start to Thanksgiving week playing in front of family back home for the first time and grabbing his 1st TD of the season." (Cleveland Browns via Instagram)
  • Cleveland Browns: "A special thanks to all Browns staff, players, alumni, and members of Stripes United who volunteered for our annual Thanksgiving at the @clefoodbank presented by @vitamix. Over 24,000 meals and 500 turkeys were packaged for delivery." (Cleveland Browns via Instagram)
  • FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc.: "Let me tell you something about my team....we do not rest and we fight for the underdog. This 5 month old pup is critically ill at the Franklin County Dog Shelter. Even worse she is a Black and White Pitbull. Even worse she is a Black and White Pitbull. Black dogs and Pitbulls are always overlooked. I would bet my entire life's savings on the fact if this were a Golden Retriever pup or purebred English lab's rescue would be lining up to save. Why???? Because those faces posted get donations. People love those breeds. FCDS reached out to me to take on her care because they know we do not shy away from the breed. She is on her way in short order to West Park Animal Hospital to see an Emergency vet there." (FIDO's Companion Rescue Inc. via Facebook)
  • Cleveland Clinic: "In honor of Thanksgiving week, volunteers prepared and delivered meals to more than 3,000 residents around Northeast Ohio. Thank you to our community partners." (Cleveland Clinic via Instagram)
  • Avon Lake High School Band: "8.5.23! Shoremen Brass Classic!" (Avon Lake High School Band via Facebook)
