Citing his withdrawal in Afghanistan, and national eviction moratorium, Gibbs called for Biden's ouster. Gibb's district includes Avon.

AVON, OH — Rep. Bob Gibbs wants Republicans to try and impeach President Joe Biden.

Gibbs is the representative from Ohio's 7th district, which includes Avon at its northern tip and stretches south towards Canton. For months, Gibbs has lobbied his Republican peers to introduce articles of impeachment against Biden, first citing the national eviction moratorium, then the withdrawal from Afghanistan as inciting incidents.

"It’s clear with Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, the House will not hold President Biden accountable for his egregious violations of his constitutional duties. That shouldn’t stop Republicans from calling them out," Gibbs said this week, when he again lobbied Republicans to impeach Biden.

Like other Republicans, Gibbs decried America's withdrawal from Afghanistan, lambasted the president for extending the eviction moratorium despite (in Gibbs' opinion) not having authority to do so, and allowing migration into the U.S. to continue.

“President Biden’s recent actions on the border represent a blatant dereliction of his constitutionally prescribed duties. Moreover, his shameless disregard for the limitations of his executive authority is a violation of his oath of office," Gibbs said.

Defending himself from criticism that his pleas were politically motivated and not actually indicative of misdoings on Biden's part, Gibbs said this was radically different than the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

"As conservatives and Republicans, I believe we understand impeachment is a serious constitutional mechanism, meant to be used only in the rarest and most grave circumstances. Sadly, we saw our Democrat colleagues debase it and use it as a talking point for electoral gain. We must strenuously avoid such trivial treatment of our duty," he said in August.

Gibbs opposed both attempts to impeach Trump.
