1. Did you know there is a Post Office on Wheels in Ohio that helps older customers who can't get to brick and mortar locations? Traveling throughout the state, all the way to our little neck of the woods in Avon and Avon Lake, the program has been making connections across Northeast Ohio for several years. According to News 5 Cleveland WEWS, "The Post Office on Wheels makes stops across the region, helping elderly residents save money on travel and give them peace of mind. Back in 1999, Post Office on Wheels started rolling through the streets of Ohio. At the time, there were only about ten stops. Now, there are up to 130. Glen Fort, a window clerk for the USPS [said], “This is definitely our district's way of giving back to the community.” For the last 15 years, Fort has been behind the wheel of the program, [which] prioritizes older Ohioans. The unit visits nursing homes, senior living facilities and rec centers servicing those who could use the extra help. According to cleveland.com "The Avon Local Schools will host a kindergarten information night for parents and guardians at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Avon Early Learning Center, 3075 Stoney Ridge Road in Avon. Any child who will be 5 years old by Aug. 1 is eligible for admission to kindergarten. Avon offers both full-day (with a program fee) and half-day options. Registration for kindergarten begins at 10 a.m. Jan. 27. " (cleveland.com)
