FISHERS, Ind. (Sept. 23, 2021) – Canton resident Sharon Rivera was named the September winner of TCC’s Get10Give10 sweepstakes. Rivera was awarded $10,000 during a check presentation in conjunction with TCC’s North Canton store at 2181 East Maple Street.

Throughout 2021, TCC customers who enter in the sweepstakes at their local TCC location will have the chance to win $10,000 to keep and TCC Gives will donate an additional $10,000 to a nonprofit of their choice. Rivera chose the Domestic Violence Project, Inc. (DVPI) to receive the additional $10,000 donation on her behalf.

“I was excited to find out I won $10,000 from TCC, and I will be putting it towards some trips I have planned,” said Rivera. “What means even more to me, though, is that I was able to choose an organization to receive an additional $10,000. I was amazed by DPVI’s facility and to hear about everything they do for victims and their children. As a survivor of domestic violence, I was happy to give the donation to DVPI for such an important cause.”

Since 1978, DVPI has offered safety, compassion, hope and healing to victims of domestic violence and their families in Stark County and surrounding communities. The organization provides transitional housing with the goal to successfully place individuals and families in homes and apartments when they are ready to take the next step in their healing process. It provides support for victims for up to two years if they choose.

“We are so happy for Sharon. We feel so privileged that we were able to meet her and that she chose our organization,” said Ashley Huprich, development and community relations director at DVPI. “Organizations like ours are unfortunately receiving huge funding cuts right now, so Sharon’s generosity came at such a perfect time. This donation will impact so many people we serve.”
