Here are the top three stories today in Cincinnati:
- Daniel Beckjord, 33, was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 22, for allegedly shooting into Tokyo Oriental Foods Shop, a Cincinnati Asian business on Reading Road, while nine people hid in the bathroom. According to police, the suspect made several comments while in custody that "did not seem to make sense." Evendale Police Chief Tim Holloway said there is currently no evidence to suggest the shooting was ethnically motivated. The investigation is ongoing and Beckjord is being held on a $600,000 bond for six counts of assaults and ten counts of inducing panic. (FOX19)
- Tomorrow, Jan. 25, another strong and potentially high-impact storm will arrive in the Cincinnati area. The "well-organized" storm could bring accumulating snow by the Wednesday morning commute and either rain or a combination of rain and snow during the day. The forecast for Thursday and Friday shows lingering flurries and snow showers. (WLWT Cincinnati)
- The City of Cincinnati plans to purchase the now-empty location of the former Saks Fifth Avenue Downtown for $3 million. Council Member Jeff Cramerding said he thinks it is important that the city retains "site control" due to all the "exciting things going on in that section of Downtown." He continued, "I think that whatever goes in there is going to be, frankly, a better fit than Saks was and add more vitality and energy in that critical block." (WVXU)
