Planning Your Week? Here Are 11 Exciting Activities To Have The Most Fun In Cleveland

We found the best events and things to do in the Cleveland area this week and through the weekend. Some are family friendly, some not.

CLEVELAND, OH — Pride in the CLE officially begins Friday night and is free to the public. We have all the details. If you like wrestling, Beachland Ballroom has a show for you. The House of Blues hosts a metal show on Saturday. And the Beck Center for the Arts is hosting its first Diversity Celebration, which will run through June 13.

Making plans is hard, and looking for events and finding kid-friendly fun (without boring everyone else) is an activity in itself. That's why Patch found the events and gathered the details for you. All you need to do is click "buy tickets" or simply go to the event.


Friday

Pride is in full swing in the CLE this weekend. The official kickoff party for Pride in the CLE is Friday night and free to the public. Flat Out Pride is a party full of music, food, drinks and entertainment in the Flats on Old River Road along the Flats East Bank waterfront. The party continues Saturday, so you have two chances to enjoy the fun. According to event information, "we will not only be kicking off the official Pride in the CLE event. … We will also be closing it down with THE official Flat Out Pride After Party. Slip back in time to the 1920s, and watch a vintage wrestling match that is a family-friendly outing. Old Wrestling will be at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland and promises to be a "night of rough n’ tumble, elbow smashin’, hip tossin’, rip roarin, slam bang style of wrestling!" Everyone is of course encouraged to embrace the vintage style with "feather boas and flapper dresses" or "bater hats and a pair of high waisted slacks." The event information specifies that it is tailored to fans of all ages, so not to worry if you have young ones to bring. There's quite the star-studded lineup involved in the performances. Saturday

The House of Blues will host After the Burial, Thy Art Is Murder, Currents and Brand of Sacrifice in concert. Doors open for the metal show at 6 p.m., and the concert is set to start at 7 p.m. Make sure to make reservations if you want to eat there before the show, or RSVP to join the pre-show party in the Foundation Room with food and cocktails. The Beck Center for the Arts is hosting its First Annual Diversity Celebration, starting Saturday. The celebration runs until June 13 and includes a wide variety of events. The events are geared toward children and families, and many are free. Find the full list of events here.

The rescheduled Martin Luther Ling Jr. Celebration Concert by the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Music Center is 7 p.m. Saturday. The concert features the music of influential Black composers, as well as music from the African American spiritual tradition. Tickets are free and still available.


Sunday

One event to note in particular from the Beck Center's Diversity Celebration is the matinee performance of "The Legend of Georgia McBride" on Sunday. The performance will include a post-show reception hosted with Plexus, the LGBT+ Allied Chamber of Commerce for Greater Cleveland that includes special guest state Sen. Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood). Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica is hosting Modest Mouse Sunday night. The indie rock concert is set to start in the west bank of The Flats at 8:15 p.m. Find more information here. Tickets are still available here.

The Weekend

The 31st Annual Art in the Village With Craft Marketplace hits Legacy Village this weekend. This festival has it all: an entire art show with more than 100 artists displaying works in mediums that include painting, jewelry, photography, sculpture, ceramics and more, plus a separate craft marketplace. Whether it is fancy art or a handmade good, the event is sure to have whatever you are seeking. The fesival is open Saturday and Sunday; hours and more information here.

Ongoing Events

The Cleveland Bazaar is back! The fan favorite returns for the summer season on Saturday. Located in Market Square Park in Ohio City, across from the West Side Market, it is primed for another summer season full of makers, artists and more. "America's rocking roller coast, ride on." If you've heard that phrase too many times to count, this event is for you. Cedar Point is offering a new experience Friday and Saturday and June 10 and 11 called Wild Frontier Nights. Sorry, kids, this is not a family experience. It is described as an
"adults-only after-hours party" with a "dust storm full of activity, including hearty tastes from the chef’s private recipe collection, hand-crafted cocktails you can’t sip anywhere else, boot-scootin’ live music, dancing, bull riding and fun event-only activities for adults." If that isn't enough, the event also includes private rides on some of the park's busiest attractions, including Steel Vengeance, Maverick, Skyhawk and more. Find all of the information here. The classic musical "My Fair Lady" opens in Playhouse Square at the State Theatre on Tuesday and runs until June 26. According to the event information, "Director Bartlett Sher’s glowing production is 'thrilling, glorious and better than it ever was' (New York Times)."
