(news5cleveland.com) — If you’ve been wondering about the famous Nela Park holiday lights, many of those historic decorations now brighten spots across Cleveland, from Public Square and Playhouse Square to Ohio City and University Circle. East Cleveland’s display has been scaled back, but GE Lighting’s donated pieces are creating new neighborhood traditions and walking tours throughout Northeast Ohio, with more decorations to be shared in future years.
   

2. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine talks intoxicating hemp ban, manufacturing funds, new Cleveland Browns stadium in interview with 3News (wkyc.com) — Cleveland residents face major changes as Gov. Mike DeWine discusses state funding for the Browns’ planned $2.4 billion domed stadium in Brook Park and a new Sports and Culture Facilities Fund that could also support Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and future teams. He also outlines his plans to sign a bill tightening rules on intoxicating hemp and to push for restored manufacturing support that affects Northeast Ohio’s MAGNET program.

Accused attempted murder suspect takes own life as Federal Marshals closed in to make arrest (cleveland19.com) — A 24-year-old attempted murder suspect died by apparent suicide inside a home in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood as U.S. Marshals tried to arrest him Friday. Police say he was wanted for an early-morning shooting in nearby Brooklyn, and no officers or bystanders were hurt during the standoff and SWAT response.
   

4. Mayor terminates East Cleveland sergeant after investigation into fraud, sexually explicit texts (fox8.com) — East Cleveland’s outgoing mayor has fired a longtime police sergeant after an investigation alleged years of fraudulent leave claims, lapsed training certification, and sexually explicit messages to female employees. City officials say his allegedly unlawful service may jeopardize past criminal cases and cost millions, and they plan to refer the matter to Cuyahoga County and federal authorities for possible charges.
   

5. Boys basketball scoreboard, top performers from Dec. 12 (cleveland.com) — Cleveland-area hoops fans got a full slate of Friday night action, with 16 teams from the cleveland.com Top 25 taking the court across Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
