All types of families make great hosts to high school exchange students arriving for a semester or full academic year to attend an American school and immerse themselves in American life and culture. AFS-USA is seeking open-minded, curious people to host a student or refer someone (anywhere in the US) they think would make a great host!
As an AFS host family, you’ll be changing a young person’s life by offering them an opportunity to experience a new culture, gain new skills, and grow as an individual. You’ll also experience personal growth and growth as a family! Bonds formed during an exchange experience last decades and many host families continue to visit their hosted children long after they return home. There’s no better way to learn a new language, share your family’s traditions, and benefit your children’s lives. Hear more about how host siblings are impacted by an AFS exchange experience in this podcast episode!

Need more information? Attend one of our upcoming hosting info sessions and hear from volunteers, staff, and other host families – you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and learn all about the hosting experience, whether it’s a few months or a full academic year, from those who know it best!

Ready to get started? Fill out a short form to get in touch with us and begin your hosting journey with AFS! You can also email us at hosting@afsusa.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
