Airbnb Cracks Down On Halloween Parties In Ohio
If you were planning on renting a house to house a Halloween party, you may need new plans.
OHIO — Airbnb will not allow its rental properties to be used for Halloween parties in Ohio, the company announced.
To prevent Ohio properties from being used for parties, the company is banning one-night-only reservation during Halloween. That policy went into effect Wednesday and applies to both Ohio and the rest of the nation, Airbnb said.
"We believe this plan will help prevent large gatherings while supporting the type of safe, responsible travel that benefits guests, hosts and the neighborhoods they call home," the company said in a statement posted to its website.

Airbnb first introduced its "no-parties policy" in 2020. Unauthorized parties dropped by 49 percent in the U.S. and Canada last year, the company said. In Ohio, more than 600 people were blocked from using Airbnb properties for parties.
However, guests who have a history of positive reviews on Airbnb will not be subject to these restrictions, the company said. Any person making a one-night or two-night reservation around Halloween will need to prove they understood the company's party ban and admit they are open to legal action if the rule is broken.
