Cleveland Heights funds redesign of ‘Where's My Guardrail?' intersection (cleveland19.com) — Cleveland Heights is putting $500,000 into redesigning the dangerous Fairmount and South Taylor intersection where cars have repeatedly crashed into a resident’s home. Planning will wrap up in early 2026, with construction finished by year’s end, aiming to add barriers and other safety upgrades neighbors have long requested.

Dog dies after Cleveland house goes up in flames (cleveland19.com) — A Monroe Avenue home in Cleveland caught fire Monday morning, killing a dog but sparing the two residents and firefighters, according to Cleveland Fire. With 2025 already the city’s deadliest fire year since 2006, officials urge residents to check smoke alarms and are offering free Red Cross alarms installed by Cleveland firefighters for anyone who calls 216-361-5535.

Mammal once considered extirpated from Ohio spotted in rare sighting (wlwt.com) — A wildlife camera in Cleveland Metroparks has captured a fisher, a mammal not recorded in Cuyahoga County since the 1800s, marking a major conservation milestone. State and Metroparks officials say the sighting highlights how healthier forests and wetlands in and around Cleveland are helping once-disappeared species like otters and bobcats return.
