Well, That Didn't Work Out Like We Wanted

  1. Major League Baseball has announced the start times for the American League Division Series' third and fourth games. Game three will be on Saturday at Progressive Field at 7:37 p.m. Game four will also be played in Cleveland with a start time of 7:07 p.m. It is unclear currently if a game four is necessary. The Guardians are playing the New York Yankees. (Subscription: cleveland.com)
  2. Investigators seized a boat and trailer from one of the men suspected of cheating in the Lake Erie Walleye Trail fishing tournament in Cleveland. Authorities from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Mercer County district attorney's office obtained a search warrant and removed the boat and trailer used in the tournament from Chase Cominski's home in Pennsylvania. He and Jacob Runyan of Cleveland were caught putting lead weights into five walleye to scam their way into winning the tournament last month. (Fox 8 News)
  3. Protesters at Cleveland City Hall on Tuesday called on Sherwin-Williams to hire a Black contractor as a key partner in the work on the paint company's new global headquarters building project. Protesters said they are frustrated and angry at the lack of of inclusion in the $600 million project, even though $122 million in contracts have been awarded to minority-owned firms. They want Mayor Justin Bibb to withhold municipal financial support. (Ideastream Public Media)
  4. Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic have identified a possible treatment for atrial fibrillation. The study researched Metformin, a common diabetes medication, as a possible drug repurposing candidate. There have not been new atrial fibrillation drugs approved in over a decade. Metformin was the most promising candidate in the study's eight-drug analysis. (Cleveland Clinic Newsroom)
  5. The first Cleveland Monsters Outdoor Classic hockey game will be on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Tickets to the game go on sale today (Oct. 12) at noon. The game will be played at FirstEnergy Stadium in the middle of the football field. Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased by clicking this link. (Subscription: cleveland.com)
