From the Cleveland Orchestra: The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Möst have announced details of their latest DVD release, a 5-DVD Box Set of previously issued recordings: Bruckner Symphonies Nos. 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 recorded live at Severance Hall and Austria’s Musikverein and Abbey of Saint Florian from 2006 to 2012. A preview of the DVD Set is available on The Cleveland Orchestra’s YouTube channel.
The DVD Set is currently available in the Cleveland Orchestra Store, located at Severance Hall, and on Amazon.com. This DVD Set project is the latest in a series of live recordings by Music Director Franz Welser-Möst and the Orchestra in partnership with Clasart, which also includes a three-DVD set of the major orchestral works of Brahms, the Brahms Requiem), and individual DVDs of orchestral works of Anton Bruckner.
Featuring Bruckner specialist Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra, the DVD Set is comprised of concert edition recordings of five symphonies by Anton Bruckner. The concerts took place at The Cleveland Orchestra’s home, Severance Hall, which is hailed today as one of the world’s most beautiful concert halls; at the magnificent Golden Hall at Vienna’s Musikverein; and at the Abbey of St. Florian in Linz, Austria, where the composer is buried. The intense and calm conducting of Welser-Möst as well as the inimitable range of dynamic colors and chamber-music-like ensemble of The Cleveland Orchestra have set new standards in Bruckner interpretation.
