Cleveland RISE success continues, crime trending down over past 2 years (cleveland19.com) — Cleveland officials say their RISE crime-reduction strategy and Operation Northern Harvest are driving down homicides, robberies, and other violent crimes while boosting police recruitment. Mayor Justin Bibb highlights new technology, more cameras, and higher officer pay as key changes, and urges residents to join block clubs, register home cameras, or even consider joining the Cleveland Division of Police.
   

2. I-Team: Road-rage shooting ruled self-defense (fox8.com) — Cleveland police and Cuyahoga County prosecutors ruled a Carnegie Avenue road‑rage shooting near University Circle as self-defense, so no charges were filed. Video shows officers responding after a 79-year-old man was wounded, with investigators ultimately concluding the 25-year-old shooter’s actions met Ohio’s self-defense standard.
   

3. Smart cameras help Cleveland lead the way in downtown crime reduction (news5cleveland.com) — Downtown Cleveland’s AI-powered security cameras, first tested in Public Square, now cover 32 locations across Public Square, Playhouse Square, and North Coast Harbor. Officials report a 25% drop in serious crime downtown and say more cameras tied into Cleveland’s Real Time Crime Center are on the way to further boost safety and foot traffic.
   

4. Ohio State Highway Patrol seeks hundreds of new troopers (cleveland19.com) — State troopers are ramping up hiring, with the Cleveland division in Brook Park expecting to add staff ahead of the new Browns stadium opening and increased traffic. Ohio State Highway Patrol aims to bring its force from about 1,370 to 1,600 troopers statewide, offering paid academy training and competitive pay for qualified applicants aged 20 to 39.
   

5. Aurora named one of the best cities to move to in U.S. (thevoice.us) — Cleveland earns a spot in the top five U.S. cities to move to in MRI Software’s new Move-In-Magnet Index, joining Aurora, Nashua, Dover, and Salt Lake City. The ranking weighs job availability, cost of living, safety, and population factors to highlight smaller, more affordable, and secure communities attracting new residents.
