- Cleveland police released a surveillance photo of a man who is wanted in connection to a Jan. 2 felonious assault and shooting on the city's West Side. The incident took place at 7310 Lorain Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Police ask anyone who can identify the man or has information about the incident to call Detective Luther at 216-623-2719. - On Jan. 4, U.S. District Judge Patricia A. Gaughan sentenced 52-year-old Diane A. Mason of Cleveland to two years in prison after she pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft. Mason stole $72,476 in Social Security Retirement Insurance benefits and $40,143.60 in monthly pension benefits from the Xerox Corporation, according to court documents. (Justice.gov)
- As part of a partnership with DNA genetic testing company 23andMe, the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter is temporarily reducing its adoption fee for dogs by more than 75 percent. From now until Jan. 15, the adoption fee for dogs over the age of 5 months will be $23 instead of $95. The fee includes spaying/neutering, microchipping, vaccinations, a 2023 dog license, and a current rabies tag. Anyone adopting dogs will be entered into a raffle to win a Wisdom Panel dog DNA test.
