Here are the top three stories in Cleveland today:

  1. The City of Cleveland announced yesterday, Sep. 21, that it is embarking on a new master plan for the downtown lakefront area. The administration of Mayor Justin Bibb is prepared to spend up to $500,000 on the new planning process and is seeking consultants with a broader scope than Haslam proposal. The city has requested proposals from planning firms, with an Oct. 17 deadline for responses. (Cleveland.com)
  2. Yesterday, Sep. 21, in nearby East Cleveland, 47-year-old East Cleveland Police Chief Scott Gardner pleaded not guilty to several theft and fraud charges. Gardner left the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas courtroom after posting the $5,000 bond and is expected back in court on Oct. 3. Since his August indictment, he has been suspended from his position as chief and placed on administrative leave. (Cleveland 19 News)
  3. Yesterday, Sep. 21, "FutureLAND," a new conference that promotes diversity in tech, was announced. The event will take place from Oct. 27 to Oct, 28 at the Flats East Bank. (Cleveland.com)
