Damaging Winds Sweeping Through Northeast Ohio

Gusts could hit 50 mph or higher on Sunday night.

CLEVELAND — Damaging winds will sweep through Northeast Ohio on Sunday night.

Wind gusts could hit 50 mph in some regions, though most communities will see winds of approximately 25 mph.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result," the National Weather Service said.

A wind advisory was issued for the following communities: Port Clinton, Oak Harbor, Genoa, Sandusky, Huron, Lorain, Elyria, North Ridgeville, Avon Lake, Cleveland, Mentor, Willoughby, Eastlake, Painesville, Willowick, and Wickliffe.

A thunderstorm could form in northern Ohio on Sunday night and continue through Monday morning. There is currently a 90-percent chance of rain on Sunday night and an 80-percent chance of rain on Monday morning.

Roughly 0.5 inches of rain will fall between Sunday night and 11 a.m. on Monday morning. More rain is possible in areas that see thunderstorms.
