Gunman Shoots 1 Clevelander, Punches Another

A 27-year-old man was shot to death on a front porch on Sunday evening.

CLEVELAND — A 27-year-old man was shot to death on the porch of an east side home on Sunday evening.

At 7:50 p.m., callers reported hearing gunshots at a Svec Avenue home. When police arrived, EMS was already there, giving first aid to the 27-year-old. He had been shot multiple times and was rushed to University Hospitals, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police believe the 27-year-old was shot due to a fight that started in the street outside of the home.

A 37-year-old man was sitting in his car, which was parked outside the house, when a man approached him. The 37-year-old got out of the car to confront the man, and the 27-year-old came out of the house to see what was going on.

The man punched the 37-year-old in the face with a gun and then fired at the 27-year-old as he came out of the house, hitting him multiple times, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact investigators at 216-623-5464. Anonymous information can be provided by calling Crimestoppers at 216-25-CRIME and a cash reward of up to $5,000 may be available.
