Hotober: Northern Ohio Could Break October Temperature Records
The National Weather Service notes that this is the hottest October in northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
OHIO — Northern Ohio is in the midst of its hottest October on record.
If trends continue, October 2021 could be the hottest on record for Cleveland, Toledo, Mansfield, Akron-Canton, Youngstown and Erie, Pennsylvania.
Cleveland is currently on pace to record an average daily high of 65.7 degrees in October 2021. The second hottest October in Cleveland occurred in 1947, when the average daily high was 61.4 degrees.

Toledo
- October 2021 daily high: 66.5 degrees
- Previous record high, 1879: 61.2 degrees
Mansfield
- October 2021 daily high: 64.5 degrees
- Previous record high, 1963: 60.9 degrees
Youngstown
- October 2021 daily high: 63.9 degrees
- Previous record high, 1963: 59.6 degrees
Akron-Canton
- October 2021 daily high: 66.5 degrees
- Previous record high, 1963: 59.6 degrees
Erie, Pennsylvania
- October 2021 daily high: 66.3 degrees
- Previous record high, 1947: 61.5 degrees
If you're a fan of the previous records, there is reason for hope. Current forecasts show temperatures dipping Thursday and remaining in the mid- to upper-50s through at least Wednesday.
However, there's also reason to believe the temperature records will be broken. By Wednesday, the daily high will again be 65 degrees, which would push many regions toward record-breaking October heat.
