Husband Can't Sue Wife For Stairway Tumble, Cleveland Court Rules
A marital dispute over a pair of shoes -- and the fall that followed a husband tripping over them -- was decided in an appeals court.
CLEVELAND — Last week, the 8th District Court of Appeals ruled that a Cleveland man could not sue his now-wife, Judy Khoury, after he tripped on her shoes and fell down a set of stairs.
The judges noted that Khoury's shoes were "obvious" and her husband, John Walworth, should have spotted them if he was taking proper precautions.
Walworth attempted to sue his wife for $80,000. Walworth broke multiple bones during the tumble, according to cleveland.com.

Khoury and Walworth were actually engaged at the time of Walworth's tumble. In what was surely a strange year for the couple, Walworth filed his lawsuit against Khoury in 2019, the same year the couple were married.
