Ice On Roads, Power Outages, Forecast: Ohio Weather

Parts of Ohio got a bit of snow and a layer of ice overnight, and power outages were common across the state.

OHIO — A dusting of snow and a layer of ice fell overnight across northern Ohio, and thousands of Buckeye State residents were without power on Friday morning. Powerful winds could blow into the state on Friday, forecasts warned.

Most of northern Ohio got between 1 and 3 inches of snow and 0.1-0.2 inches of ice, according to the National Weather Service. The ice thickened tree branches and brought down power lines across the region.

"Untreated surfaces remain slick in spots and icing has caused some power outages northern Ohio," the National Weather Service said on Friday morning. "Use care as you head out this morning as a few more tree limbs/wires may come down as winds increase."

Wind gusts will hit 25 mph on Friday, the National Weather Service warned, and could bring down more tree limbs and cause more power outages.

"Northwesterly wind gusts to 20 to 25 mph this morning may down tree limbs and power lines in areas that received moderate freezing rain accumulations overnight," the agency said.
