Kasich Blasts Obama on Brussels: 'I Would be Going Back to Washington'

"The idea that we are in any way relaxed about this is unacceptable," Ohio Gov. John Kasich said.

John Kasich has called on President Barack Obama to return to Washington following the terrorist attacks in Brussels.

“If I were in Cuba right now, the last thing I would be doing is going to baseball game,” Kasich said. “I would be going back to Washington and assembling all of my advisors and all of the leaders of the world, the civilized world, to say, Okay folks, we can’t delay any longer.”

Obama opened his speech in Havana, Cuba Tuesday by discussing the terrorist attacks at the international airport and a subway station in Brussels, Belgium that left at least 34 people dead and many more injured.

“We will do whatever is necessary to support our friend and ally Belgium in bringing to justice those who are responsible and this is yet another reminder that the world must unite. We must be together regardless of nationality or race or faith in fighting against the scourge of terrorism. We can and we will defeat those who threaten the safety and security of people all around the world,” Obama said during his speech.

During a campaign stop in Minneapolis, MN, Kasich had strong words of his own on the issue.

“The idea that we are in any way relaxed about this is unacceptable. When I say that, I mean we just have to put all of our focus on this because if we do not put all of our focus and attention on these kinds of matters, ultimately we’re going to see even more activity in the United States,” Kasich said.

Kasich went on to express solidarity with Belgium.

“It should be made clear that when people die and bleed in Europe, we die and bleed a little bit right here in the United States of America,” Kasich said.
