Lol Tolhurst, Co-Founder Of The Cure, To Speak At Rock & Roll Hall
Tolhurst, who was the drummer and keyboardist in the band, will discuss his career on Thursday night in the Rock Hall's Foster Theater.

CLEVELAND, OH —The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Thursday will welcome Lol Tolhurst, the co-founder and former drummer of The Cure, for a conversation about the band and Tolhurst's career.
The event takes place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rock Hall's Foster Theater. Jason Hanley, the Rock Hall's vice president of Education and Visitor Services, will interview Tolhurst, who is a member of the Rock Hall after being inducted with The Cure in 2019.
"(Tolhurst) is best known as a founding member of the band that virtually invented alternative music, The Cure," the Rock Hall said in an announcement promoting the event. "Formed in 1976, The Cure is one of the most influential, successful and critically acclaimed bands of its generation."

Tolhurst, who grew up in the United Kingdom, was The Cure's drummer on albums: "Three Imaginary Boys," "Seventeen Seconds," "Faith" and "Pornography." He took on keyboard duties in the mid-1980s and left the band in 1989.
In the early 1990s, Tolhurst moved to Southern California, where he formed a new band Levinhurst.

However, Tolhurst got back together with The Cure for a 2011 reunion tour, as Tolhurst played with the band for the first time in over 20 years.
In 2016, Tolhurst published his first book "Cured —The Tale of Two Imaginary Boys," which is a memoir that draws together the threads of his life and art.
These days, Tolhurst and Budgie, the drummer from Siouxsie and the Banshees, host a podcast called "Curious Creatures," where they explore post punk's enduring legacy and contemporary relevance.
After Thursday's Rock Hall event, Tolhurst will stick around and sign copies of his book. Masks are required for guests at the book signing, according to the Rock Hall.
Tickets to the Tolhurst interview event are $10 and are available online. a Separate ticket must be purchased for admission to the museum.
Fans also are invited to visit the Rock Hall earlier in the day Thursday, when Tolhurst records his "Curious Creatures" podcast in the museum's Sirius XM Studio. Greg Harris, president and CEO of the Rock Hall will be the special guest.
