1) Great-Grandson Of Mayor Jackson Indicted In Revenge Slaying

The great-grandson of Cleveland's former mayor, Frank Jackson, was indicted Wednesday for carrying out a revenge killing, prosecutors said.
- Donald Jackson-Gates, 19, faces charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and weapons violations, according to the indictment. He was arrested June 7 and is being held without bail. He made his first court appearance Friday.
- He shot Chris'Shon Coleman, 20, in May in retaliation for the killing of Frank Q. Jackson, the mayor's grandson, in September 2021.

2) Remember those mystery guys who planted flowers in a hole on a Euclid Avenue sidewalk in Cleveland? Their legendary services are needed in a large sinkhole forming at West 6th Street and St. Clair Avenue. Intense heat may be making the hole bigger.
Fox 8 News has video of a hole so big cops must direct traffic around it
3) Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice — an ardent Cleveland Browns fan who once was rumored to be a head coaching candidate for the team — said the sexual misconduct allegations made by 24 women against Deshaun Watson are "serious matters." She said: “I’m someone who believes you keep an open mind until all of the facts are evident. ... I think every woman feels that these are serious matters, but hopefully people will get to the bottom of it and we’ll see where we are in a couple of months.”
4) This Browns news is gonna be easier to swallow: Bubba's-Q is back in the form of a food truck. The southern-style BBQ fare is being served by James Baker, the son of former Cleveland Brown Al "Bubba" Baker who ran a popular restaurant in Avon Lake for 13 years. The original Bubba's-Q closed in 2019. What's on the menu: beef brisket, ribs, pulled pork and more.
5) Three swimmers were rescued from Lake Erie Wednesday, but one person remains missing near Vermilion. Police rescued the trio, and the Coast Guard was called in to search for a missing man Wednesday afternoon. A Coast Guard helicopter was also brought in from Detroit.

Aw, Shucks! Thanks Bassman
A reader who goes by the email handle Bassman sent us this lovely note Wednesday with a thumbs up. 👍 (I swear we're not related in any way. In fact, my own mom has yet to click a thumbs up on my little newsletter. 😢)
"Never a disappointment in your reporting! It is an understatement to say without you my days would have a big informational void! The Patch Newsletter deserves a lot of top media awards! It brings so much to the table, better than a coffee table tabloid, full of informative things, never a dull moment. Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olson must be secretly making sure that the Patch is intriguing and fascinating!"
We're blushing. 😊
