NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Northeast Ohio On Mon.

The warning lasts until 3:45 p.m. and is for Northeast Trumbull, Geauga, Northeast Cuyahoga and Lake counties.

CLEVELAND, OH —The National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland on Monday afternoon issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for four Northeast Ohio counties until 3:45 p.m.

The warning was issued at 2:58 p.m. for Northwestern Trumbull County, Geauga County, Northeastern Cuyahoga County and Lake County, according to the NWS.

The NWS said that at 2:58 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was located near Highland Hills, which is 12 miles east of Cleveland. The storm was moving northeast at 55 mph.

Radar has indicated that the storm could bring 60 mph wind gusts, which could damage trees and powerlines.

According to the NWS, local cities that could be impacted include: Cleveland, Painesville, Willowick, Chardon, Fairport Harbor, Geneva-On-The-Lake, Euclid, Mentor, Cleveland Heights, Solon, Willoughby, Eastlake, Warrensville Heights, Geneva, South Russell, Madison, Middlefield, North Bloomfield, Perry and Orwell.

For people in areas being impacted by the storm, the NWS had advised: "For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building."
