  2. Cleveland City Councilmember Richard Starr, Ward 5, introduced a proposal that would split the Ohio casino tax revenue proceeds equally between the council and the administration instead of the current 15 percent to the council. With the increase of about $5 million, some council members said they could "get things done for residents when City Hall and the mayor [fail] to provide." On Jan. 23, Mayor Justin Bibb's finance chief Ahmed Abonamah expressed concern and said that city finances were already tight. He believes removing that much money from the general fund would demand "painful cuts" from "everyday city services." (PlayUSA)

According to the Cleveland police, the victim was in the parking lot with a group of people when the suspect(s) began firing in their direction. The suspect(s) fled in a light-colored SUV after hitting the victim in the chest. Police were investigating the incident and said as of Jan. 25, there are no suspects. (Cleveland 19 News)
