- Yesterday, Jan. 4, the United States Marshals Service arrested six fugitives, all wanted by authorities for various crimes, after an hours-long standoff on Cleveland's West Side. - A Cleveland police officer's undercover car was "intentionally" struck at E. 156th Street and Damon Avenue in the North Collinwood neighborhood yesterday. - On Jan. 3, the East Cleveland City Council had a chaotic start to the new year as members of the council shouted at each other and focused on disagreements instead of a proposed 2023 budget. Council President Nathaniel Martin was voted from his seat and replaced with Korean Stevenson, who voted for herself in the 3-2 vote. Stevenson then claimed that Mark McClain, Martin's recent appointment to the Ward 3 seat, was not eligible and tried to swear in Lateek Shabazz as Ward 3 councilman. A representative from the city's law department said Shabazz was also ineligible, but Stevenson yelled at him and continued to swear in Shabazz. During all this, McClain refused to move from his seat and the budget was never discussed. (News 5 Cleveland WEWS)
