13-Year-Old Charged With Assaulting Man at Library

The Cleveland Heights teen was arrested and charged with pushing a 68-year-old man at Lee Road Library

A man was reading on a bench around 5:30 p.m. Monday in the lower level of the when he said four boys approached him.

One 13-year-old boy swiped the 68-year-old man's hat that was placed next to him on the bench and ran upstairs. The boy came back and returned the man's hat, but then they started yelling at each other, police said. When the man walked upstairs to report the incident, the boy, who is from Cleveland Heights, pushed him in the chest.

The man, who is from Cleveland, grabbed the teen and held him to the ground in an attempt to defend himself, police said. The teen broke free from his grip and ran away. Later, arrested one of the boys involved in the incident. Through that investigation, they were able to identify the boy who committed the crime, police said.

Police said they've arrested the boy many times, and he is being charged with theft and assault in juvenile court.
