City Council Quick Takes: Nuisance Homes and University Circle Travel Study

Cleveland Heights City Council voted 6-1 to implement the area, and ClevelandHeights.com next year at Monday's regular meeting. Here’s what else happened:

• Council members declared 954 and 956 Brunswick Road nuisance properties, and the city will demolish the homes if the owners do not take steps soon to improve the deteriorated buildings. It will cost the city $8,000 to $9,000 to raze each property.
• City Council moved forward with its plans travel between Cleveland Heights and University Circle. The city will use the $75,000 grant it received from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency earlier this year to pay Michael Baker Jr., Inc. to conduct the planning study. Cleveland Heights applied for the grant with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority and University Circle Inc. in January. Cleveland Heights will also contribute a 20 percent match, or $18,750, toward the study, known as The Missing Links Study. Michael Baker is also between University Circle and Cleveland Heights.
