Cleveland Heights' Federal Funding At Risk After Sequestration

City received $3.9 million in 2012 and is expected to see reduction after sequestration takes effect today

Cleveland Heights stands to see cuts in its federal funding afterΒ the U.S. Senate did not come to an agreement to stop $85 billion in federal cuts Thursday.

The city received about $3.9 million in federal funding in 2012, including $2.5 million from the Community Development Block Grant, whichΒ helps fund senior programs, street, water and sewer maintenance, youth recreation centers, food banks, housing programs and more.

The city also received $721,000 from the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, which it uses to rehab or demolish nuisance homes, among other things.
