Cleveland Heights Man Sentenced For Drug Trafficking
A 47-year-old from Cleveland Heights was sentenced to federal prison for helping distribute meth and heroin.
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — A Cleveland Heights man was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to helping move heroin and meth throughout Iowa.
Dean Warren Wright, 47, from Cleveland Heights, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances in August 2021. He was sentenced to prison on Wednesday.
Wright admitted to help distribute methamphetamine, heroin and cannabis in northern Iowa during his guilty plea, the Department of Justice said. When law enforcement stopped Wright's car in Iowa, he had more than $74,000 in cash in his possession, prosecutors added.

Wright must serve his 48 months of imprisonment, with no chance of parole. He was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge C.J. Williams in Cedar Rapids.
The investigation into Wright was led by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program of the DOJ. The investigation received help from the FBI, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force, the Waterloo Police Department, the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cedar Falls Police Department.

Wright is being held by the U.S. Marshals until he can be taken to a federal prison.
