Five Things You Need to Know: Memorial Day Weekend

Check out the events this weekend in and nearby Cleveland Heights, and don't miss the Cain Park special ticket sale for residents

  1. TheΒ Cleveland Heights Memorial Day CeremonyΒ starts at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Veterans Memorial in Cumberland Park. The Heights High Band and All-Generations Band will entertain attendees, and students from will read their essays. Cleveland Heights City Hall and the Community Center will be closed. Look for photos from the event on Cleveland Heights Patch Tuesday.Β 
  2. Lake View CemeteryΒ at 10:30 a.m. Monday in front of theΒ . The program will include a keynote speaker and a concert by the Cleveland Letter Carrier’s Band. Look for photos from the event on Cleveland Heights Patch Thursday.
  3. , a new church in Cleveland Heights, and are hosting a free neighborhood carnival from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at 2206 South Taylor Road. The event will include bounce houses, games, funnel cakes, popcorn and cotton candy, at no charge to attendees. Before the event, Gateway Heights is organizing an effort to clean up and beautify the area at 9 a.m. Saturday. All are welcome to join and help paint, mulch, pull weeds and pick up trash.Β 
  4. The will start at 11 a.m. Monday.Β The route begins on Silsby Road near Farland, continues east to South Belvoir, then south to Carroll Boulevard, and ends at Administration Drive off of Carroll.
  5. Cleveland Heights residents have first dibs on tickets for the 2011 season at .Β Residents must go to the Main Ticket Office in person with a photo ID and two proofs of residency or a Community Center recreation ID Β to get the reserved seats and discounts.Β The special tickets set aside for residents cannot be purchased through Ticketmaster. Β
