Harris Challenging Boyd in State House Primary
Winner will run unopposed in the November general election

Shaker Heights resident Howard Harris will challenge Ohio House Democratic incumbent Barbara Boyd for the District 9 seat Tuesday.
The winner will run unopposed in the November election.
Boyd was first elected to be the state representative in 1992 and served four terms. She left because of term limits, but ran again in 2006 and won the Cleveland Heights district seat, according to information on the Ohio House of Representatives website.

Boyd was a Cleveland Heights City Council member for about a decade before she was elected to the house, and was the first African-American member on council. She also served as mayor during her tenure.
Harris could not be reached for comment.
