Police Blotter: Man Refuses to Take No For an Answer After Asking for Ride From Stranger

A Cleveland Heights resident said an intoxicated man climbed into an unlocked car parked in his driveway and fell asleep

Around 3:30 a.m. Oct. 22, a man from Garfield Heights who appeared drunk asked a Cleveland Heights resident for a ride near the 800 block of Helmsdale. The Helmsdale resident refused, but the 31-year-old man would not take no for an answer. He climbed into the passenger side of an unlocked car parked in the Cleveland Heights man’s driveway. According to police reports, once he got in the car, β€œthe male immediately fell asleep and soiled himself.” That’s when the man called . Officers charged the man with disorderly conduct and voluntary intoxication.

Breaking and Entering at Stone Oven

At 4:30 a.m. Oct 20, police responded to a call from a employee who thought someone had broke into the store. Someone had smashed the register on the ground and stole cash. The officer saw a man run out the front door and continue west on Kensington, according to police reports. Police later found a suspect, a 47-year-old man from Cleveland, hiding behind a home on the 3200 block of Silsby, and charged him with breaking and entering.

Cleveland Heights Man Tries to Tackle Police Officer

Police responded to a complaint about a loud party on the 2100 block of Cottage Grove around 11:30 p.m. Oct. 20. Police spoke with the residents on the front porch and asked them to turn the music down. One of the residents, a 24-year-old man, called the officers profane names and told them to stop messing with him. Police then asked for his license. When he came back, he continued using profanity and refused to turn the music down. This back-and-forth continued, and police began writing a citation for the loud party. As an officer was asking the second resident for her information, the 24-year-old tried to tackle the officer from behind. Another officer caught him, and the Cleveland Heights man was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and intoxication. Β
