Police Blotter: Man Charged with Raping 13-year-old Girl

A 26-year-old man from Cleveland was arrested Aug. 31 and charged with raping a 13-year-old girl. The man is a family friend, according to police. Officials are still investigating the incident, which occurred on Sylvania Avenue in Cleveland Heights. Police said they could not release further information, but the man has been charged with rape and kidnapping.
16-year-old Cleveland Heights resident shot in hand
On Sept. 5, a concerned resident called police after hearing five to six gunshots near the 900 block of Woodview Road just before midnight.Β A 16-year-old boy from Cleveland Heights was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital. Police brought in one man and one boy for questioning, but have not made arrests or charged anyone. Police are still investigating what happened, and said they could not release further information.

Teen tries to rob his 8-year-old neighbor
A 16-year-old boy from Cleveland Heights was arrested and charged with attempted robbery. Police say the teen stopped an 8-year-old, who is his neighbor, near the 3300 block of Berkeley Road and told the boy to empty his pockets and take off his shoes. The 16-year-old searched the boy, and when he didnβt find anything, he left. The mother called police after the 8-year-old told her what happened and said the boy who robbed him lived down the street.
