CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Cleveland Heights will issue a snow parking ban on Wednesday night as the city prepares to handle a potentially major winter storm.

A winter storm warning will go into effect Wednesday night for much of northern Ohio. Between 8 and 13 inches of snow could fall in Cuyahoga County, with gusty winds hitting 20 to 30 mph. Travel will be extremely difficult, the Ohio Department of Transportation warned.

Cleveland Heights Public Works crews will be working "around the clock" starting Wednesday night, a city spokesperson said.

“Crews will start with plowing and salting all primary roads and hills to make certain these main arteries within our city are passable. Crews will then move to plow secondary roads and salt secondary intersections," the spokesperson said.

Snow could fall at a rate of 1 inch per hour at points during the storm. The heaviest snow is expected to fall on Thursday.

"Keep in mind that our crews will be working 12 to 14 hours shifts under stressful conditions to do their best to keep up with the anticipated snowfall. Stay warm, and remember… don’t crowd the plow!” the city spokesperson added.

Additionally, a snow emergency parking ban will be implemented at 7 p.m. Wednesday and will remain in place until at least 7 a.m. on Friday.
