Students Read Winning Essays Honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education heard from two City of Cleveland Heights Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest winners at Tuesday's meeting.

Garrison Lash and Terrance Law, both sophomores at The Renaissance School of Humanities & International Studies at wrote about an incident when their baseball team visited a small town in rural Ohio for a tournament game.

The teens each wrote about incidents of racism that they witnessed during the trip and how they dealt with those situations.

All 24 essay winners from CH-UH Schools - which included a second-grade class at Canterbury Elementary - are listed on the district website.
